We are looking for a person with an internationally recognized and proven record of research and publications in mechanics. The successful candidate will have proven experience with national and international bachelors and masters programmes such as those offered by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Dortmund. In particular, the ability to give courses in both German and English is essential.
Of special interest are the research fields of material modeling, continuum mechanics, computational mechanics, and their applications to current challenges and problems in material technology and production engineering. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering offers a number of possibilities for scientific cooperation in areas such as metal forming, machining, material characterization, or material technology.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute actively to the ongoing development of the Institute of Mechanics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering as well as to the planned Center of Mechanics at the Technische Universitaet Dortmund. This latter represents an organizational basis for ongoing and future cooperative and interdisciplinary research and teaching activities. A willingness to take on and carry out duties related to faculty and university administration is also expected.
The conditions of appointment to this position are in compliance with article § 36 of the University and College Act of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (§ 36 HG des Landes NRW) a university degree, a dissertation and additional scientific expertise, which has been achieved within an assistant professorship, a habilitation or activities adequate to a habilitation. The Technische Universitaet Dortmund is especially interested in increasing the number of female academic staff and strongly encourages the application of female candidates.
